Al Salam Bank Bahrain launches Al Rateb for the unbanked

Al Rateb is a convenient and simple wage protection system that enables employers to pay wages digitally to their employees who do not have a bank account.

Al Salam Bank Bahrain has launched Al Rateb, the Kingdom’s first digital payroll solution for the unbanked community.

The service allows employers to securely upload wages and benefits onto payroll cards through an online portal which is configured with their own payroll system.

In a statement, the lender said that cardholders can withdraw funds at any ATM, use Point of Sale terminals locally or abroad and access financial services including statements, interactive dashboards as well as 24/7 customer care and multi-lingual customer support.

Anwar Murad, the Deputy CEO of Al Salam Bank Bahrain , said, “I am delighted that the Shura Council has taken this important initiative, in line with Al Rateb proposition, giving unbanked workers secure access to their wages, bundled with withdrawals and remittance solutions.”

Al Rateb cards also offer a remittance solution to many destinations such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh as well as the Philippines, Nepal, Egypt and Sri Lanka.
