Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) has completed cloud services migration to Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Bahrain data centres—the first in the Middle East, according to local newswire, Bahrain News Agency.

Mumtakalat is the first government institution to complete migration to cloud services to AWS’s three data centres, which will offer cloud storage to regional organisations amid growing demand in the Middle East.

The Kingdom sovereign wealth fund stated that this latest migration reduces its usage of international data centres while improving the speed and resilience of its information technology services.

Mohamed Sater, Mumtalakat’s Head of Information Technology, said, “We have cut down our technology operational costs by over 50 per cent as data backup, storage and security costs have declined considerably.”
