Banker Middle East today holds its inaugural summit at Mina A’Salam, Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai under the theme “Transforming Banking for the New Consumer”. Organised by CPI Financial with the support of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), the summit will discuss the challenges financial institutions face in digitasation and catering to a new breed of consumers.

The Banker Middle East Summit 2019 (BME Summit) is a full-day conference that will cover the digital evolution and the future of banking as comprehensively categorised into three elements - disruption, innovation, and new frontiers. The Summit clarifies this paradigm shift in banking with topics offering in-depth understanding on how new age technology changes the way banks operate and the need for the correct infrastructure to facilitate digital payments, as well as the value of big data analytics to enable banks to offer new and personalised services to customers.

The Summit will also present topics on how banks can turn challenges into opportunities by making inroads into the fintech industry, through partnerships and more. It will also provide a platform to dissect and discuss existing regulations as banks initiate their digital preparedness, integrating top-emerging technologies into their systems.

Looking into the future, the Summit will lay out new frontiers in banking with sessions on artificial intelligence and machine learning. The anticipated impact of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the coming years will necessitate banks to prioritise cybersecurity and risk mitigation to match the demands of millennial customers and to gain the trust of new market entrants—Generation Z.

Nabilah Annuar, the Editor of Banker Middle East Summit, said, “Digital solutions give banks the advantage to reach more clients at much lower costs, and the opportunity to offer them new and personalised services which are accessible and convenient. While faced with challenges, such as increasing consumer expectations and the entry of millennial consumers who also have their own unique expectations, banks can capitalise on new opportunities by digitally reinventing themselves to build trust and loyalty among their consumers and to gain the confidence of the younger market segment.”

The exclusive one-day event will engage participants with enriching keynote presentations, panel discussions and case studies. It will also serve as a networking platform for regional experts, senior banking executives, regulators, technology leaders and visionaries.

Peter Smith, Managing Director of Policy, Strategy and Risk at Dubai Financial Services Authority, will deliver the opening keynote speech. Smith oversees DFSA’s strategic planning, including its annual business planning cycle, and the organisation’s approach to setting its Risk Tolerance and managing non-firm specific risks. DFSA is an independent regulator of financial services conducted in or from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

An elite roster of more than 30 speakers will grace the inaugural edition of BME Summit to be led by Sanjay Malhotra, Chief Digital Officer at Dubai Islamic Bank; Ahmad Abu Eideh, Chief Executive Officer at United Arab Bank; Fahad Al Semari, Chief Transformation Officer at Riyad Bank; Ramana Kumar, SVP & Head of Payments at First Abu Dhabi Bank; Christopher Kiew-Smith, Head of FinTech Strategy, Financial Services, Regulatory Authority at Abu Dhabi Global Market, and Anthony Butler, Chief Technology Officer at IBM Blockchain Services.

They will be joined by over 150 senior executives from the banking and technology industry to share and gain expert insights, expand their network, and establish lasting business relationship with professionals involved in the entire banking technology value chain.
